Friday Morning, December 7, 2007

Sixty six years ago today, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and thrust the US into World War Two.

Also, 66 years ago today, on a cold Nebraska Sunday, a litle boy was baptized into the Roman Catholic faith. He was the first child of eight, the son of Gary and Lillian Altmanshofer - most of you know him by Dave Altman.

Since I took the day off yesterday to spend with some friends and family members, I have no update. Yet.

I expect a visit today and some conversation with Dave's wife Marla and his children will yield some information. I'll be back later.

I saw Dave this morning, and he was a little tired. But his first questions to me were about business. He wanted to know how my meeting went with the dealers at RV Expo and if we were on track for our promos, etc. He also wanted to know if we sold anything yesterday. One of our salesmen sent an e-mail to Dave wanting to know when it was OK to send gifts. When it was read to him Dave didn't have to think about it and blurted out... "I want some fresh RV sales and a 2007 sale would be the best!" So, Mike Swan, if you are reading this, he doesn't want flowers and candy, he wants you to sell a 2007!.
Dave,
I always knew you had a 1-track mind, and you think about little else but Altmans Winnebago. So when most of us would be singing the blues and feeling sorry for ourselves, you carry on as if nothing is wrong and ask the same darn questions! You are amazing, and I've always known that, but truly you are such a mentor, and I love you. May this be a lesson to all of us whiners out there!!!!
Hugs and Kisses,
Your favorite.

Dave-
Just want you to know that you, Marla and family have been in our thoughts and prayers over the past few days. We missed seeing you in Louisville. Our very best to you and know your strength, will and conviction will lead you.

Well Dave, incase the important news hasn't hit you, Bo Pelini accepted the head coaching job at NE. This may be old news since it happened earlier this week. Bo was the defensive coordinator at LSU, and he has done a fine job, and comes with high marks. Either way, your teams program, such that team from South Bend has only one way to go, and it's not down. Take care of yourself and look forward to seeing you back at your best!!! Chris Cook
