Thursday Afternoon, November 29, 2007 City of Hope

Dave is being transferred today to the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, California. We had some indication last evening that this may happen but the City of Hope is very difficult into which to get (ending a phrase in a preposition is something up with which I should not put). Today we got word that the arrangements had been made by a good friend of Dave and that he is being moved.

The City of Hope is a world renowned cancer center, known for both treatment and cutting edge research. It is also fairly close to most of us, about 8 miles west of Covina where Dave and Marla live.

He will be in what appears to be a private room so visiting will be easier. We will let you know what the visiting status is as soon as we get our feet on the ground.

Again, for everyone who has left a message, thank you. Except those who have left disparaging ones about me.

One of our relatives, Mary Lou's son Mark and Michelle Wilson's daughter Sara Lilly, is also in the hospital with a M.R.S.A. staph infection. They will be performing surgery on her this evening I think. Those infections are very resistant to antibiotics so it can be quite serious. She is only two years old and a little angel -- please keep her in your prayers also.

When it rains it pours I guess.

Dave,
I spoke with several people today who were at Louisville, and you were the talk of the town!!! You couldn't walk down the aisle's without hearing someone talking about you. I have a better idea if you want to be the center of attention at Louisville.....Win another award or something!!! Anyway, I thought you'd like to know that the whole RVIA Convention at Louisville is praying for you and keeping you in their thoughts. With all of these prayers, it would be impossible for you not to be good as new. So keep at it, and we'll see you soon.

Dave, Ardie cooked breakfast this morning for the Colton store...
and one smiling face was missing. Hope to see you real soon now that you are being moved to a BIG hospital. Private room, I understand? Pretty fancy but only the best for the one we love.
Love and prayer filled with hugs,
Jo Ann

Good Morning, Dave...

I'm not sure what happened to my original blog, so I will try again...I am a friend of Leslie's (faux painter) from Indiana. I have been praying for you and your family through this difficult time. God loves you and so do many others. Trust Him every moment of your life...He knows what's best, when we don't. Keep looking up, cuz when ya look down, ya only see "Da Feet"! :~) Your brother is doing a remarkable job on the blogging! KUDOS, JOE! God bless you...

Dave Altman---Theres a song out there called "Your on my mind", needless to say that is where you are, on our minds during this very difficult time. You must know we are drawing strength from your strength in fighting this demon. You know the demon is a rookie and hasn't come up against such a formidable opponent. We have wanted to visit you, but we understand there are some restrictions. We will be down in a heartbeat as soon as we get the ok. We are getting closer to God while we stay this vigil in prayer for your recovery. We love you big man, stay the course---Dave & Marianne

Dave and Marla our prayers and hopes are with you. We were so sorry to hear about your illness. We found out through Staceys husbands cousin, olivia who works for you in colton, in finance. We will keep track of how you are doing and hope to see you sometime soon. The 'old gang' is all praying for you too!
